R. Stevie Moore ‎- Next [Cass] (1974)

Like the previous year's Stevie Moore 'Often', 1974's 'Next' marks the transition from R. Stevie Moore's early experimental phase into a much more accessible and pop-oriented framework. Shades of Todd Rundgren's more experimental work of the time ('A Wizard, a True Star', for example) crop up here and there, as do suggestions of Paul McCartney ("Rookie Coma"), Roy Wood ("Ballad of Ethos"), and Sparks (the manic opener "Adult Tree"), but by this point, Moore has managed to coalesce his varied influences into the unique sound that he would continue to refine over the next few decades. Two songs, the shrieky, falsetto "I Not Listening" and the utterly beguiling ballad "Moons" (the delicate middle section of which prefigures a sound that Stereolab would turn into a career nearly two decades later), would appear on Moore's first proper album, 'Phonography', two years later. Of the others, an early version of the sophisticated, almost jazzy instrumental "World's Fair" and the charming acoustic ramble "Topic of Same" are big fan favorites. [SOURCE: ALLMUSIC

The Quick ‎- One Light In A Blackout [LP] (1982)

The Quick was a dance pop duo from England that consisted of vocalist Colin "Col" Campsie and bassist / keyboardist George McFarlane. McFarlane and Campsie originally met in California in 1978, and began working together when they returned to England, taking the name "The Quick". Their debut single, 'Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot', was released on Epic Records in 1979. The following year, the duo's single, 'Hip Shake Jerk', became a huge hit in Australia, and their first album, 'On the Uptake', was quickly released there. Remixed and repackaged as 'Fascinating Rhythm', the album was released to the rest of the world in 1982, spawning a U.S. dance hit, "Zulu." A second album, 'International Thing', followed in 1984. By that time, McFarlane and Campsie had started doing studio work for other musicians, producing an album for the band Endgames. Their last album, 'Wah Wah', came out in 1986 on A&M Records. McFarlane and Campsie would resurface as the Giant Steps in 1988.  [SOURCE: DISCOGS

Palais Schaumburg ‎- Das Single Kabinett [12''] (1982)

Palais Schaumburg was a new wave band from Hamburg, Germany. The style was classified as Neue Deutsche Welle, and strongly characterized by their avant garde music and dadaistic attitude. The band was originally formed in 1980, featuring Timo Blunck, Holger Hiller, Thomas Fehlmann, and percussionist F.M. Einheit. The group's name stands for Das Palais Schaumburg in Bonn, the Cold War era residence of the German chancellor. Einheit left the group, eventually to join Einstürzende Neubauten and was replaced by Ralf Hertwig prior to Palais Schaumburg's first full-length album 'Palais Schaumburg' which was produced by David Cunningham and released in 1981. Shortly after it was released, Hiller left the band and started his solo career. He was replaced with Moritz von Oswald and vocalist Walther Thielsch. The group made several singles and albums throughout early 80's, where their avant garde sounds were heavily influenced by funk, especially in albums 'Lupa' and 'Parlez-Vous Schaumburg'. They eventually split up in 1984. All the members have been working on their solo careers. On Thursday November 21st, 2013, Palais Schaumburg appeared live beside Laibach in Bern, Switzerland. O.R.D.U.C. started as a project for experimental music. Gradually the music chanced to minimal-pop. Later that year 'Fast Forward' and 'New Cubism' were released. 'The Beatear' (1984), 'D-Train' (1988), 'Bonus-Tracks' (1998) and some tracks on compilation-albums were released. In 2009 was the album '107' released. In 2011 O.R.D.U.C. celebrated its 40 year jubilee, with the compilation LP 'Ruby Jubilee'. [SOURCE: DISCOGS

Karmas Colectivos formed in mid-1982, influenced mainly by bands such U2, Simple Minds or The Cure and headed by a veteran of the local scene, Vicente Comes "Paloma". The first formation was composed by Salva Ortiz (drums), Vicente Sabater (keyboards), Sol Rodríguez (choruses), José Luis Granell (sax), Salva Sanambrosio (bass), and Vicente Comes (voice and guitar). Jamie Wednesday ‎- Vote For Love [12''] (1985, The Pink Label)

Jamie Wednesday were a British 1980s jangle pop band, formed in Streatham, South London in 1984, that released eight songs on two records between 1985 and 1986. Previously they had been called The Ballpoints, and then they became Peter Pan's Playground, later deciding on the name Jamie Wednesday. The band consisted of: James Morrison (acoustic guitar, lead vocals), Fruitbat (bass guitar, backing vocals), Dean Leggett (drums and percussion), Lindsey Lowe (trumpet) and  Simon Henry (saxophone).

Jamie Wednesday recorded and released two EPs, and contributed to two compilations on the Pink Records label, but they never sold well and the band remained virtually unknown. Jamie Wednesday are indirectly responsible for the name of the band Pop Will Eat Itself, when an article about Jamie Wednesday in the NME, written by David Quantick, mentioned that pop music is ever-recycling its ideas and that eventually, 'pop will eat itself'. Jamie Wednesday split up in 1987 just before a scheduled appearance at an opening gig. James Morrison and Leslie Carter stuck together and filled in for that gig. Thus Carter USM was born, with Morrison and Carter becoming Jim Bob and Fruitbat respectively. Drummer Leggett subsequently joined BOB. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA
