The Warlord – The Ultimate Warlord [12''] (1978, CBS)

The Warlord (aka Technique, aka The Intergalactic Orchestra) were a studio group with members David Garrick and Peter Green. David Garrick (aka David Byron, 29 January 1947 – 28 February 1985) was a British singer and songwriter best known for fronting Uriah Heep. He was lead vocalist for Spice (an early incarnation of Uriah Heep) from 1967 to 1969. From 1968 he also worked as a session vocalist working at City of London Studios and PYE Studios for Avenue Recordings. His early work for the budget label was all cover versions and all uncredited. He is purported to have recorded over one hundred and forty of these cover version tracks between 1968 and 1970. The rapid rise in fame of Uriah Heep put an end to the session work. 

Peter Green (aka Peter Charles Green) is an English pop singer and songwriter, born 31 July 1942 in Birmingham, England, UK. Among projects with various groups, Green also did session vocal work alongside David Byron for Avenue Records producing cover hits of popular songs of the late 1960s early 70s. 

In 1979 they released their first full length LP 'Super Nova' in the attempt to cash in on the techno / disco dance music that was popular throughout the world. This would be the second of three projects listed that seemed to run hand and hand during that attempt. The project itself was a direct spinoff from the members who experimented with The Warloard material as the song "I Shall Return" was the B side for most of those singles. A question comes up if these projects were discussed and original ideas for the work started during the recording of "Baby Faced Killer" which was being recorded at the same time that they started this venture the year before and at the same studio. It also involves heavy influence by Muff Murfin who also was part of those sessions. This would appear to be the first thing officially released with David actually listed using the alias name of Mark Oxford. Questions also come into play on the credits since most of musicians weren't listed. It's suspected that Alan Caddy would have been part of this project too.

 
The 'Super Nova' LP itself was preempted by the release of the single 'Star Probe Navigator'; this song was a direct remake of The Warlord song "The Ultimate Warlord" but with full verses and intent to explore the music further. This version and the album itself had some good response from the audience it was geared to in the UK. Not near the attention of the original over time but the music is more techno rather than disco as it's now classified as. Some of the clips are pretty interesting and "Star Flying" has a definite Pink Floyd feel to it. This album has a nice flow and provides some interesting bits of music, far beyond anything David ever attempted in his career. The original LP is extremely rare and sales for a rather high price tag in most places that have it. The album was remastered in Germany by Vertigoflight and released again as a limited edition LP in March 2011. [SOURCE: TRAVELLERS IN TIME]

Ralph Lundsten And The Andromeda All Stars – Discophrenia [LP] (1978, Harvest)

It's probably the cover that misled to think that this would be a sub-par Moog disco LP, filled with synthetic instrumental versions of "Shake Your Groove Thing", etc. Even though everything else heard from Ralph Lundsten has been adequate-to-genius avant-electronic compositions, just pegged this as a disco cash-in. Maybe it is. But it falls more on the "funk" side of disco -the kind of late 70s sanitary funk that served as the backdrop to acts like Grace Jones, early rap, or the Eno/Byrne sound. Funk that went to modern Africa on an Anthropology graduate student fact-finding mission, but found that bouncing between recording studios in Nairobi was good enough. Funk that has a PhD at the mixing board. Funk by white guys with afros. Lundsten pins those steady, repetitive bass-led grooves under mildly entertaining spacey electronic improvisations with jazz fusion indicators. A little like Miles Davis at his 70s grooviest, toned way down into something much more commercially palatable. You know -disco funk for horny, lovesick robots. So... the cover is accurate after all. The Wirtschaftswunder ‎– Pop Adenauer [LP] (1984, Ariola)

The Wirtschaftswunder was a German band consisting of musicians Angelo Galizia (vocals, Italy), Tom Dokoupil (guitar, Czechoslovakia), Mark Pfurtschneller (keyboards, Canada) and Jürgen Beuth (drums, Germany). They were part of the so-called Neue Deutsche Welle that emerged as part of the English new wave/post-punk movement in the early 1980s and included bands such as D.A.F., Malaria!, or ZK (predecessor of Die Toten Hosen). Their most characteristic feature was Angelo Galizia's singing with a heavy Italian accent. After their 4th album 'Pop Adenauer' in the same year and their final single in 1984 they dissolved. Ralph Lundsten And The Andromeda All Stars ‎- Alpha Ralpha Boulevard [LP] (1979, Harvest)

Ralph Lundsten is a Swedish composer of electronic music, as well as a film director, artist and author. He was born on 6 October 1936 in Ersnäs, Norrbotten, in northern Sweden, and now lives in Nacka on the outskirts of Stockholm, still close to the forest and the sea. His home is Castle Frankenburg, a pink wooden mansion dating from 1878 which also houses his electronic music studio, Andromeda Studio. Since 1959 he has lived an independent life, creating his own personal musical language, and preparing original films and exhibitions. His song "Out in the Wide World" serves as the signature tune for Radio Sweden International broadcasts. The Quick ‎- One Light In A Blackout [LP] (1982)

The Quick was a dance pop duo from England that consisted of vocalist Colin "Col" Campsie and bassist / keyboardist George McFarlane. McFarlane and Campsie originally met in California in 1978, and began working together when they returned to England, taking the name "The Quick". Their debut single, 'Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot', was released on Epic Records in 1979. The following year, the duo's single, 'Hip Shake Jerk', became a huge hit in Australia, and their first album, 'On the Uptake', was quickly released there. Remixed and repackaged as 'Fascinating Rhythm', the album was released to the rest of the world in 1982, spawning a U.S. dance hit, "Zulu." A second album, 'International Thing', followed in 1984. By that time, McFarlane and Campsie had started doing studio work for other musicians, producing an album for the band Endgames. Their last album, 'Wah Wah', came out in 1986 on A&M Records.
