People In Control ‎– When It's War [7''] (1981, Crammed Discs)

 

It's very lo-fi, but it has a fabulous groove to the EP. It certainly has that sort of absurdly orchestrated yet function feel of Family Fodder. It has the male and female vocalist interchanges and that sort of dub influenced post-punk vibe and tribal style drumming as well. Charles Bullen from This Heat was involved in this project as well which explains the slightly more experimental touches this has. "When It's War" is sort of haunting. "Failing To Achieve" is also a good track, but perhaps not quite as memorable as the title track. Their finishing move, "Pale Fail" echoes "When It's War" only it's mainly instrumental, not really a song actually. All in all though what little material exists from this group is pretty wicked, and if you are a fan of either Heat or Fodder then this should be an absolute must. [SOURCE: RATE YOUR MUSIC]

Yximalloo ‎– Techno Shrine Choir [CD] (1994, Sakura wrechords)

Yximalloo is Naofumi Ishimaru alone, but he drafts a loose ensemble of players, including the core of Shigeo Ootake and Takashi Korgo (who appear on all discs), as collaborator-executors. All of his releases are on his own label, and none have seen a distributor yet (which is why you very rarely find his CDs in stores). Ishimaru works like a Japanese Jandek without the angst, like the Boredoms minus the bombast. Spiritual kin to early artpunk and especially the LAFMS, he revels in mock-ethnic music and nonsense. Lo-fi, sweet and primitive, he uses ancient drum machines, hand percussion, and electronic droplet noises, sometimes set to melodies gathered from some imaginary South Sea island where the traditional instrument is seemingly an old '80s synth. Handclaps and chanting abound, but Yximalloo has also been painted as a Japanese Half Japanese -Jad Fair himself has collaborated with Ishimaru and draws the covers several releases (gorgeous dayglo and glow-in-the-dark covers in iridescent plastic cases). Orchestra Of Skin & Bone ‎– Orchestra Of Skin & Bone [LP] (1986, Major Records)

Orchestra of Skin and Bone were an Australian post-punk band active from 1984 to 1986. The band's core members were Ollie Olsen, Marie Hoy and John Murphy. They released a self-titled album in 1985, with the line-up of Olsen on lead vocals and guitar, Murphy on drums, Arnie Hanna on guitar, Marie Hoy on keyboards, David Hoy on cello, Tom Hoy on saxophone, Lochie Kirkwood on vocals and saxophone, Dugald McKenzie on vocals and harmonica, James Rogers on trumpet and Peter Scully on guitar. They also released cassettes on underground noise labels. According to Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, the ensemble "proved incomprehensible to local audiences and rarely played live." Two tracks from the album, "Sometimes", and "Ot-Ven-Rot" later appeared on the album by Olsen's project with Michael Hutchence, Max Q. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA]

C Cat Trance ‎- C Cat Trance [LP] (1983)

After leaving Medium Medium, John Rees Lewis formed C Cat Trance with original Medium Medium drummer Nigel Kingston Stone. While similar in some respects to Medium Medium, they incorporated World music elements, releasing a self-titled debut mini-LP in 1983 on the Red Flame label. Subsequent releases were on the Red Flame sub-label Ink, starting with the 'Dreams of Leaving' 12-inch single. They released one album a year between 1985 and 1987 and another in 1992 before splitting up. John Rees Lewis later returned to a reformed Medium Medium.
