Zoskia Meets Sugardog ‎- That's Heavy Baby [12''] (1987)

Zos Kia (also credited as Zoskia) was a British musical group initially formed by John "Zos Kia" Gosling along with John Balance. This trio, along with Peter Christopherson on sound, and sometimes other guests, recorded and performed several concerts in 1982 and 1983 under the names Zos Kia and Coil, and some of this material is available on the Coil/Zos Kia release 'Transparent'. In 1983, Balance and Christopherson left to concentrate on Coil full-time. All material released under the Zos Kia name alone was primarily the work of John Gosling. After retiring the Zos Kia name, Gosling went on to record with Sugardog and Psychic TV and to work solo as Sugar J and Mekon. The name "Zos Kia" is derived from the Zos Kia Cultus, a system of magic devised by British artist Austin Osman Spare. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA]

Y CREATE is the solo moniker of Hessel Veldman, but was also used to refer to a changing group of musicians connected to Exart. A lot of their improvisations and compositions were recorded and several were released on the label. Apart from Veldman, musicians appearing on these sessions include Nick Nicole, Kees Beukelaar, Herman Te Loo, Jos van Ommen, Kees van Ede, Willem De Ridder, Jos Van Duijne, Peter Cornelissen & Gert-Jan Prins. X-Ray Pop are the synth-pop duo of Doc Pilot and Zouka Dzaza from Tours, France. They got their start in the no wave art group Bocal 5 in 1981 and split off in 1984 to focus on their own brand of quirky synthesized electronics. The Weeds ‎- Pay It All Back [Cass] (1985)

Dunedin supergroup The Weeds were Michael Morley (bass, vocals), Shayne Carter (guitar, vocals), Robert Scott (guitar, bass, vocals) and on drums, Jeff Harford, Chris Healey or John Collie. Sometimes they played in their underwear and in 1985 they released the raucous folk-blues ‘Wheatfields’ as a one-off single, flipped with a live take on Elvis Presley’s "Trouble" on Flying Nun Records. 'Pay It All Back', a 13-song tape, was released in 1985 on Scott’s Every Secret Thing tape imprint, followed in 1986 by songs on three subsequent EST compilation tapes. An EP was recorded with Ivan Purvis at Chippendale House in Dunedin in November 1985 but remains unreleased in that form. [SOURCE: AUDIOCULTURE]

V2-Berlín ‎- V2-Berlín [LP] (1983, MR)

Madrid band formed in 1983 by Lucio Zenón (voice and guitar), Ricardo Neila (guitar), Santi Botía (bass) and Julián Rodríguez (drums). They were an atypical case in Madrid's pop of the early 80's, since they were not a "pop" group, but rather practiced a solid and vigorous rock based on the forcefulness of their guitar sound. Television fans to the point of presenting themselves, in the compilation of MR '447 39 10', with a version of the legendary "Marquee Moon", V2 Berlin made a different and personal proposal, perhaps included in the dark-wave movement from which emerged bands like Décima Víctima or Paralisis Permanente. Their music was intense and vibrant, though perhaps too dense for the time. They had a fabulous sound of guitars that, despite everything, did not succeed in enhancing the weakness of most of their compositions. Their first album also became the last one, before the incomprehension of the public and the indifference of the critic. It was published by MR / Ariola in 1983 with homonymous title and was composed of ten songs of which "Algo Está Pasando" was the only single. V2 Berlin performed the album in Rock-Ola. Some of their members tried again under the name of La Noche Americana, but, although they recorded a MiniAlbum, nothing happened to them. [SOURCE: THE COMMERCIAL ZONE]

Tappi Tíkarrass ‎- Bítið Fast Í Vítið [12''] (1982)

Icelandic group formed in Reykjavík September 1981, Tappi Tíkarrass was a short-lived project that is perhaps best known as being the first serious music project of now-renowned singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir (aka Björk, who was only in her mid teens at the time). Coming out of the punk movement Tappi Tíkarrass combined elements of funk, disco and jazz. The band's name is Icelandic for "Cork The Bitch's Arse". [SOURCE: DISCOGS]
