The Higher Primates ‎– Taking In The Summer [7''] (1980, Tekno Tunes)

The Higher Primates was a "band" that existed, in studio only, in the early 1980's. All synths, guitars, bass, soprano, alto and tenor saxs, voices, engineering and everything else except the record cover design were the product of one Nicholas Wedd Brown, the cover was done by his sister, Penelope Brown. There were two live performance bands that featured Nick's music and were fronted by Nick. While the first was called The Higher Primates, the second incarnation was called simply The Primates. The first one, in Northampton Massachusetts, featured West Peddie on guitar and bass, Chris Houston on Fender Rhodes and synth, Roy Finch on synths, Jim Brown on drums and Nick on lead vocals, synth and guitar. They played exactly one gig, warming up for Tom Verlaine. Everyone but Brown contributed to the writing, including quite a number of other songs. The second was formed in 1983 in Washington D.C. and consisted of Carl Peachey on guitar, Marc Muscato on drums and Billy Swann on bass. Nick did his usual stuff. This incarnation did some recording but none has been released so far. [SOURCE: LAST.FM
