Bourgie Bourgie – Breaking Point [7''] (1984, MCA Records)

Formed in Glasgow in 1984 from the ashes of The Jazzateers, Bourgie Bourgie signed very quickly to MCA. Two singles failed to chart in the UK Top 40, despite plenty of press coverage, and an LP was partially completed when Paul Quinn became unhappy with the musical direction and left the band. The remaining members reverted back to the Jazzateers name and failed to have any further success before finally splitting for good.

"Breaking Point" is one of the greatest songs Bowie has never written, set to one of the dumbest keyboard and string arrangements imaginable. Apparently this 7" remix was done on request by their record company MCA, who considered the far superior original demo, which had better, less meandering vocals, more percussion and a guitar solo to die for, too uncommercial. Pure bliss. Lost classic. Missed opportunity. [SOURCE: RATE YOUR MUSIC]
