Esclarecidos were never a "professional" group, basically because their members never intended to make a living from music, something that, together with the fact that they were the publishers of their own records, gave rise to a prolific musical career full of avant-garde proposals wrapped in pop and totally free from the usual pressures imposed by the record industry. They were undoubtedly the first group of the spanish new wave to make "adult music", halfway between existentialism and yuppie hedonism, endowing all their songs with a refined aura of elegance and sophistication.
Esclarecidos were formed in the early 1980s as an escape valve for a group of friends closer to their thirties than their twenties. That first formation was composed of Cristina Lliso (vocals), Fernando Mata (guitar), Nacho Lliso (sax), Goyan Manzano (bass) and Alfonso Pérez (drums). On July 22, 1981 they gave their first concert, and only a year later their first album appeared, an EP containing three tracks: "Punto de Observación", "Música Para Convenios Colectivos" and 'El Muro Acabó con Matt'. With this work they also gave birth to their own independent record label, GASA (Grabaciones Accidentales S.A.), a company they formed together with the members of Décima Victima to publish their own records.
