Yeah! – Yeah! [LP] (1988, Ano Kato Records)

When Anti Troppau Council called it a day, Yannis Drenoyannis joined guitarist Vassilis Spyropoulos (member of the band Spyridoula), bass player Hrysa Pantazi, and drummer Takis Giannoutsos, and formed Yeah!. They released the album 'Yeah!' in 1988, and 'Festival' in 1992. After the band split, Drenoyannis turned into journalism (writing articles about new cars and motorbikes). Takis Giannoutsous became a well known radio persona, after hosting a morning TV show for a while.

The Wylde Mammoths – Go Baby Go!! [LP] (1987, Crypt Records)

 

Wylde Mammoths were founded in Stockholm, Sweden in the mid-1980s and were part of the thriving garage rock scene of the day which included The Stomachmouths, The Highspeed V, Crimson Shadows and The Creeps. In 1986 they were signed to the American label Crypt Records, being one of the first new bands Crypt released, before that they mostly made 1960s garage compilations like the 'Back From The Grave'-series. Being very influenced by the music of the 1960s themselves, The Wylde Mammoths recorded their first album -'Go Baby Go!!'- in singer Peter Maniette's basement only using an old 2-track Beocord tape recorder. V; were a post-punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, comprising guitarists Gary Gogel and George Petcoff, drummer Matt Burns, bassist Joe Cuneo and vocalist Susan Anway. Active on the East Coast music scene from 1979-1982. Also known as Vee.

Underground Life – VM Uno [Cass] (1984, Produzioni VM)

Underground Life were born in 1977, during the punk era, with a temporary formation of young musicians, founded by the drummer Lorenzo LaTorre. Singer Giancarlo Onorato joined the band last. In 1979 they released their first 45, 'Noncurance/Blackout!' on the Disco Ivoire label, exposed in the windows of London's Rough Trade shop as “italian punk rock”. In 1980 followed a hard-to-find tape, 'I Fiori Del Male'. After some live shows, they released the 12" 'The Cross' (1981) on Trinciato Forte Records and their first LP 'The Fox' (1982) on Suono Records. After joining the legendary I.R.A. Records labels, some more albums were released, including two tracks for the compilation 'Catalogue Issue' (1984) shared with Litfiba, Diaframma and Moda. 'Correspondances' is the only album, self-released, by French band Tableau Noir, formed by Yasmine (backing vocals), Patrick Ambulante (bass), Thierry Cordier (guitar, vocals), Bernard Mikaélian (keyboards) and David Girardi (vocals, drum programming) and produced by Jacques Pinon and keyboardist Bernard Mikaélian. 'Correspondances' is a rare but great Minimal Synth / New-Wave concept album based on lyrics from Charles Baudelaire's "Fleurs Du Mal", sung in French in a Daniel Darc fragile and captivating vein. Snatches Of Pink – Send In The Clowns [LP] (1988, Dog Gone)

 

Snatches of Pink were a Chapel Hill, NC, trio, consisting of drummer Sara Romweber (ex-Let's Active), singer Andy McMillan, and guitarist Michael Rank. Unlike other North Carolina bands of the time, Snatches of Pink took a rough and ragged approach that while often inspired, failed to make much impact. In 1988, they released their debut, 'Send in the Clowns', followed by 'Dead Men' the same year and 'Bent with Pray' in 1992. The band regrouped in 2003, releasing 'Hyena' with Rank being the only holdover from the original lineup. In 2005, they released 'Stag' and returned with 'Love Is Dead' in 2007. The Record Players – Double C Side EP [7''] (1978, Aerco, Wreckord Records)

 

The Record Players were a british punk band formed in 1976 in Margate, Kent. Members were Philip Martin [aka Drohne] (vocals, guitar), Mark Addisson (vocals, guitar), Martin Horn (bass), Gordon Larner (drums) and Hugh Manistre (piano, organ). They released three 7": 'Double C Side' in 1978, '60-7 Inches' in 1979, and 'Money Worries' in 1981, all of them on the Wreckord label. After The Record Players Philip Martin founded Drohne as a project of "hurdy-gurdy toting psychedelia". He has been assisted by Alexi Nonis (cretian lira, jews harp), Geoff Huggins (bass clarinett, sax, early woodwind), Jon Loomes (violin, concertina, additional vocals), plus Brendan Power (harmonica), Tim Edey (guitar and accordion), and Lucy Randell (cajon and percussion).

Pigbros – From Now On This Will Be Your Ideal Life [LP] (1988, Cake Records)

Pigbros formed 1984 by Nick Beales (guitar and vocals) fresh from a stint in The Nightingales and Jonathan Cooke (bass). Recruiting a teenage Fuzz Townshend (later with Pop Will Eat Itself, Bentley Rhythm Ace, General Public / Ranking Roger, The Beat, The Wonder Stuff, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Bucks Fizz, The Wurzels, Black Lace ... as well as projects under his own name) the band played a few gigs before augmenting the line up a few months later to include Svor Naan (saxophone and guitar) not long departed from The Cravats / DCL Locomotive. The initial sound was a rumbling, bass-heavy groove, driven by Fuzz’s drumming and Jonathan’s unique echo bass with Nick's fierce choppy guitar playing. Added to this concoction was Svor’s mixture of sax riffing and swirling echo effects and a rather curious guitar style which could be mistaken for a balalaika. Although along the way there was a tendency to deviate from this template, Pigbros did on the whole manage to maintain this sonic approach. [SOURCE: LAST.FM]
